This little program will help you determine the targets you should be aiming for in your grazing system. The areas are in hectares. The first field you are required to enter is the total grazing area. This is the area whch the cows can graze. Exclude any fields kept out for silage or that cannot be grazed by the cows.
Next enter the rotation length, this should be between 18 - 25 days depending on how drought prone your area is (18 - not drought prone at all, 25 - very drought prone).
The target residual will be somewhere between 1400 - 2000 (depending on the time of year, genetic merit, and stage of lactation of your cows).
Then enter the numbers of animals present in each category on the cow grazing area. Do not include animals on seperate grazing systems or on outfarms. The intake figures are in kilos of drymatter. These figures can be adjusted.
When you have entered all your figures press the "Calculate Button"
Unfortunatly this page uses vbscript which requires the Microsoft Explorer 3 or higher or Netscape 3 or higher with a vbscript plugin.
